Nomination Period for PCLI Board of Directors Is Open

The Press Club of Long Island annual board election is coming up on Friday, June 16. PCLI members can declare their candidacy for the board of directors by emailing board secretary Erin Stephenson at [email protected] by Friday, June 2.
Terms are two years long. The board consists of 11 members, with half of the seats up for election each year. Candidates must be members in good standing of the Society of Professional Journalists and the Press Club of Long Island.
Board members have a number of responsibilities, including, but not limited to: planning and executing PCLI virtual and live events; appearing at schools as a guest speaker or panelist on PCLI's behalf; judging journalism contests; attending board meetings via Zoom; promoting PCLI membership, events, scholarships and awards; voting on club spending; and weighing in on board statements and club initiatives. PCLI also has a number of committees that any club members may serve on, including programming, education, diversity & inclusion, membership, history, awards, media guide and freedom of information.
The board of directors will choose the 2023-24 officers (president, vice president, secretary and treasurer) at the first board meeting following the election.
