Journalist-Turned-Author: Speaking with Alison Kosik About Her Book

In "What's Up With Women and Money?" Alison Kosik gives a step-by-step action plan on a variety of money topics. Alison also interviews dozens of women who share their cautionary tales of why avoiding money decisions can lead to bad outcomes.
Alison will join Press Club of Long Island President Cecilia Dowd on Thursday, June 26, at 7 p.m. Eastern to discuss making the leap from journalist to author and lessons from her book that journalists will find value in.
Alison is a freelance general assignment reporter and anchor for ABC News. She joins ABC from CNN, where she was a business correspondent and anchor for 15 years. She is recognized around the globe as the face of Wall Street, since much of her reporting was done on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange.
She appeared on several platforms, including HLN and CNN’s global affiliate TV stations from Australia to India to Canada. Alison also filled-in to anchor various morning and afternoon shows on CNN’s U.S. network, as well as CNN International’s morning business show "First Move," where she received a nomination for Outstanding Breaking News Coverage from the National Academy of Arts and Sciences and the network’s afternoon business show Quest Means Business. Additionally, Alison also hosted a weekly business streaming show called "CNN Markets Now," which was on CNN’s digital platform.
Alison has interviewed leading CEOs, investors, executives, international dignitaries, musicians, and sports figures. She has covered historic moments of the worldwide financial crisis of 2007, including the international banking crisis with the collapse of Lehman Brothers, the wave of U.S. home foreclosures as the subprime mortgage market crashed, and dramatic drops in the stock market during the coronavirus pandemic.
Alison covered the companies and business leaders that influence everyday life. Alison has interviewed some of the biggest names in business, politics and technology, from Warren Buffet to Hillary Clinton to Mark Cuban and Michael Saylor. She’s also covered some of the hottest initial public offerings since the financial crisis, including Facebook, Twitter and Alibaba.
Before joining CNN, Alison worked as an investigative reporter at WCBS-TV in New York for their Specials Unit. Prior to joining WCBS, she worked as a reporter/anchor for the Sinclair Broadcast Group in Washington, D.C., and a reporter for Hearst-Argyle Television in D.C. She was a business correspondent for EnergyNewsLive.com in D.C. covering the energy sector, energy policy and the politics of the energy sector from Capitol Hill. Alison was a reporter and fill-in anchor for WPEC-TV/WFLX-TV in West Palm Beach, Florida, and began her career at KZTV-TV and KRIS-TV in Corpus Christi, Texas, as a reporter/anchor.
Alison earned a Fellow from the Scripps Howard New Media Fellowship from Columbia University. She also received a Florida AP Award for Best Spot News and was a Fellow from the International Radio and Television Society.
Alison received her Bachelor of Arts degrees in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science from The American University in Washington, D.C..
Alison is a Certified Financial Educator Instructor (CFEI).
